2019 People with Disability on Victorian Public Boards: Programs
Twenty per cent of Victorians have a disability, yet less than 1 per cent of people serving on Victorian public sector boards identify as having a disability.
The Victorian Government, including through action 24 of absolutely everyone: state disability plan 2017-2020, is committed to increasing the diversity of its boards, including people with disability.
The people with disability on Victorian public sector boards initiative is being delivered by the Victorian Government in partnership with Leadership Victoria, the Disability Leadership Institute and the Self Advocacy Resource Unit’s Voice at the Table initiative.
As part of the initiative Leadership Victoria is providing professional development opportunities for people with disability to learn about, apply for and successfully fill board roles.

Leadership Victoria is offering two programs:
1. Benefits of the Board Seminar - An introductory 4 hour session for people with no board experience, who want to know more about being on a board and learn about the opportunities and benefits of board participation.

2. Foundations of Board Leadership and Mentoring Program – A four-day program for those who are ready to develop their leadership and board skills further to become “board ready”. Participants will have the option of being matched with a mentor with board experience.
