30 November 2011 By Stefan Grun
Leadership Victoria (LV) Chairman Garry Ringwood is delighted to announce Richard Dent (WCLP ’04) will be LV’s new Executive Director.
In front of 500 guests at LV’s Annual Presentation Dinner held on Tuesday 29th November at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Garry announced the 2004 Williamson Community Leadership Program (WCLP) alumnus would take on the role commencing in January 2012.
As only LV’s third Executive Director, Richard joins LV from the EW Tipping Foundation where he is currently CEO, a role he has held since 2000, as well as being the Chair of National Disability Services Victoria (NDSV).
Richard takes over from Jerril Rechter (WCLP ’03) who was appointed as CEO of VicHealth in October 2011.
Richard has worked in the community sector for almost two decades holding roles in leadership and governance, child, family, disability, advocacy/policy agencies, peak bodies and professional associations.
Richard is a Sidney Myer Fellow and a Harvard Club Fellow. He has two Masters degrees (MBA and Social Science) and is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Organisational Dynamics at RMIT.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Richard’s calibre join LV. As an LV Alumnus Richard is very familiar with the organisation and the wealth of experience he brings from a range of leadership and advocacy roles he’s held over the last two decades make him the perfect candidate to help complete the transition we started several years ago,” Garry said.
Garry also formally acknowledged the assistance LV Council had received throughout the recruitment process from leading search firm Egon Zehnder International.
