Change Agent Network Leadership Intensive Day 1 & 2

6 April 2014 By Heather Pickard

The Change Agent Network (CAN) aims to connect existing and emerging leaders in the Victorian Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) sector to develop a community of practice that is committed to improving AOD practice.

Heather Pickard, Chief Executive Officer at Self Help Addiction Resource Centre Inc, a member of the Change Agent Network, summarised her experience of Days 1 and 2 of the Leadership Intensive provided by Leadership Victoria:

Day 1 and 2 were an interesting start, with many participants wondering if it was going to be as engaging as expected and live up to the Leadership Victoria name. Also, I am sure, there was some nervousness about the sector reform process, competitive tendering, and therefore the culture that would be encouraged and developed within the group.

And would it be engaging enough not to feel tired after lunch? Always a valuable indicator!

Well, the days were full and lively with a clever blend of information and group participation, and the culture which was encouraged? - helpful and open.

The speakers were inspiring and relevant, and I left both days with a head full of “maybe I can try that” and a sense of reviewing and refining my own style of leadership.
