Background information
We are seeking a new secretary and a new treasurer to join a team of seven directors.

One in Five is a volunteer organisation established in 2002 to fund medical research into mental illness. Since then One in Five has grown rapidly and become a successful Melbourne-based charity.

Each year we have a number of public fundraising events, including the Extremely Long Lunch and the Bolt Blowers Surf Competition. Since 2004 we have raised over $1.6m which has been invested into medical research to investigate more targeted and therefore more effective medical treatments for severe depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

We believe research will cure mental illness, make diagnosis more accurate and improve the lives of sufferers and families. Ultimately better medical treatments will help prevent suicidal behavior and help determine the causes of mental illness.

Our organisation currently funds research undertaken at the Mental Health Research Institute which is a prominent Australian research organisation in the field of mental illness. We want to increase funding for medical research and build a national research foundation. We are looking for supporters who share our vision and want to help cure mental illness.
