Becoming a board member of a non-profit organisation is a valuable and impactful way to demonstrate your community leadership. Understanding the requirements of board member roles, responsibilities and relationships is critically important in developing the confidence and skills to fulfill your role effectively.
This two-day program provides a detailed overview of the duties, responsibilities and leadership required for effective NFP boards, including:
- Good governance and the role of the board
- Legal and financial obligations of board members
- The role of the board in Risk Management
- Developing and monitoring strategy
- Processes, dynamics and leadership of effective boards
- Overcoming the barriers and challenges of a board role
- Skills assessment: identifying transferrable skills and areas for development
- Networks and pathways to board recruitment

Cancellation and Transfer Policy:
Board Leadership Programs
Cancellations received up to 10 working days prior to the program will incur a 30% cancellation fee. Cancellations between 10 working days prior and 3 working days prior incur a 50% cancellation fee. No refunds will apply for cancellations within 3 working days of program commencement date.
Cancellation must be in writing.
Transfers received up to 10 working days prior to the program commencement date will incur a 10% administration fee. Transfers between 10 and 5 working days prior to the program commencement will incur a 30% transfer fee. Transfers requested less than 5 working days prior to the program commencement will incur a 50% transfer fee.
Transfer requests must be in writing.
This policy applies to all participants and may be varied by LV at its discretion, from time to time without prior notice.
