What do you do at Leadership Victoria?
I’m the Office Administrator which means I deal with all office related manners including IT and accounts and event bookings.
How long have you worked at LV?
Almost 12 months.
What did you do before joining LV?
I’ve got a degree in fashion management, I worked in the fashion industry for a number of years. After that I worked in sales support and administrative roles, primarily in the homewares and home textiles industries.
What do you like about your job?
I really like working with mature-minded people who actually enjoy what they do and like coming to work. LV is a very different organisation in the way that everybody enjoys their work and enjoys providing a service that enriches peoples lives.
What do you love?
I love my two cats who drive me crazy but who have brought so much love into my life. I love my partner who inspires me with his dedication to starting a music production business alongside full time work .
What have you learnt about leadership in your time at LV?
I’ve learnt that anyone can be a leader and leadership can occur at many different levels. That lesson has given me the confidence to believe in who I am and what I can achieve personally.
How do you fill the long hours when you’re not at LV?
I spend many many hours sewing and designing after work and on weekends. I’m in the process of starting an online fashion label whick will incorporate elements of art deco fashion and I’m hoping to get that online midyear.
Who has most influenced your professional life?
My parents have had a lot of influence in my professional life. They both gave up well paid jobs to start their own business about 15 years ago and I really admire their dedication and the hard work they’ve put in. They’ve taught me that I can do anything I choose to, I just have to work hard at it.
Do you have any leadership lessons from previous bosses (good or bad)?
I think that if you believe in your team, they will go the extra mile for you; believe in the people you are leading and you’ll get results.
