Professor Patrick McGorry talks leadership with LV
Professor Patrick McGorry is a leading researcher, clinician and campaigner for mental health care reform. He was also the 2010 Australian of the year.
Professor McGorry has for many years demonstrated strong leadership, both within his sector and throughout the broader community, as he has fought for greater investment in and modernisation of the mental health care system.
It has not always been an easy journey and he has drawn criticism from some other researchers in his field. However in Professor McGorry’s own words, he is not willing to compromise “on issues of human rights, preventable suffering and premature death.”
Here, Professor McGorry sat down with Leadership Victoria’s Stefan Grun to talk about his uncompromising leadership style and what lies ahead.
